We are currently seeking a highly proactive and dedicated Site Safety Officer to support an environmental remediation project in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area. This role is critical to establishing and maintaining a culture of safety excellence while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Objectives of this Role:

✅ Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with local laws and regulations.

✅ Ensure the highest safety compliance standards for staff, visitors, and vendors.

✅ Stay updated on safety regulations, codes, and industry standards.

✅ Support emergency preparedness efforts, including evacuation plans and procedures.

✅ Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety best practices into daily operations.

✅ Maintain communication with regulatory agencies, safety organizations, and insurance providers.

✅ Implement and oversee site-specific health and safety plans (HASP).

✅ Conduct daily safety briefings, audits, and inspections.

✅ Ensure compliance with OSHA, HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120), and other applicable regulations.

✅ Monitor air quality and exposure levels; ensure proper PPE use (Level A,B).

✅ Enforce stop-work authority when safety hazards are identified.

✅ Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.

✅ Train site personnel on safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strategies to protect employees, property, and facilities from workplace hazards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Provide ongoing safety training sessions and awareness campaigns.
  • Maintain accurate records for safety inspections, incidents, and training.
  • Evaluate and improve safety strategies as needed.
  • Advise management and employees on safety-related matters.
  • Stay informed about emerging safety trends and regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, STEM or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a safety-related role (construction, environmental, or industrial settings preferred).
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification (preferred); HAZWOPER 40-Hour (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of hazard assessment, air monitoring, and PPE requirements.
  • Proficiency in safety auditing, inspections, and hazard identification.
  • Experience in creating emergency response plans tailored to worksite conditions.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and environmental safety regulations.
  • Expertise in maintaining safety equipment (fire extinguishers, eye protection, hazardous material protection).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications (Not Required):

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS).
  • NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) or IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) certifications.
  • Experience in emergency response and crisis management.
  • A valid driver’s license and first-aid certification.
