Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate multi-week youth STEM programs, communicate with teachers and administration, coordinate transportation, etc.
  • Purchase materials and perform set up/clean up for program.
  • Act as point-of-contact for schools and community-based organizations to ensure student participation.
  • Recruit and maintain relationships with STEM mentors from the startup and entrepreneurial community in Philadelphia.
  • Refine and develop industry-relevant STEM curriculum.
  • Document and revise curricular outlines as well as student and mentor activities for internal and external use.
  • Engage with STEM Mentors to create dynamic activities that showcase workplace skills and career pathways for students.
  • Engage in activity orientation, one-on-one activity planning and coaching, and planning mentor recruitment events.
  • Perform scheduled site visits with funders, maintain student attendance and mentor volunteer records, follow program budget protocols, and ensure appropriate grant compliance.
  • Promote center via social media and networking functions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or STEM field or other related field of study.
  • Demonstrated experience working in direct service/education of middle and/or high school-aged youth.
  • Teaching experience in Informal Science and STEM education program development is preferred.
  • Experience working in Philadelphia middle or high schools is a plus. Fluency in Spanish is also a plus.
  • Must be able to travel outside to office/classroom (schools and community centers) and occasional trips to attend conferences, seminars, and meetings.
  • May require working non-traditional hours based on event schedules or other operational needs.
