Job Description

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a Middle & Upper School Spanish Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year at an independent school in Lexington, KY.

Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Teach several Spanish courses across multiple proficiency levels for middle and upper school students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and improve course curriculum as needed.
  • Partner with colleagues to establish efficient grading and assessment practices.
  • Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students.
  • Conducting research on teaching methods, materials, and language games that can be used in class.
  • Demonstrated ability to tailor language instruction based on diverse learning profiles, including expertise in classroom differentiation and supporting students with varying needs.
  • Teaching students about Spanish culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, and dress, and social conventions.
  • Scheduling and preparing students for oral and written examinations.
  • Organizing feedback sessions with students and their parents if applicable.
  • Providing suggestions for further learning and scheduling intervention sessions with struggling students.
  • Serve as an advisor for students ensuring student success.

Spanish Teacher Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish language, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven written and verbal proficiency in Spanish.
  • 2-3 years of previous teaching experience preferred.
  • No teaching license or credential is required.
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities.

Additional Desired Qualities:

  • Willingness to work with middle and upper school students.
  • Passion for foreign language education.
  • Desire to be involved in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
  • Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
