Our interior designers play a vital role in shaping experiences from the inside out—bringing material richness, environmental performance, and a human-centered design approach to creating meaningful places where people truly feel they belong. We are looking for a Senior Interior Designer with exceptional design and communication skills to join our San Francisco office. The right candidate will be committed to our mission and core values, bringing compassion and curiosity to their work with a highly collaborative team. 

 

The primary responsibilities of this position include: 

 

  • Lead the interior design process from programming through construction administration, ensuring design excellence and alignment with project goals. 
  • Develop and articulate compelling design concepts through sketches, presentations, and material palettes that communicate a clear design narrative. 
  • Lead client presentations and design workshops, building strong relationships, and guiding clients through design decisions with clarity and confidence. 
  • Oversee selection and specification of finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), ensuring integration with architectural design and performance goals. 
  • Collaborate closely with architects, clients, consultants, and contractors to maintain design intent, quality, and project vision. 
  • Mentor and inspire junior interior design staff, fostering creativity, curiosity, and professional growth. 
  • Contribute to project documentation, schedules, and budgets, maintaining accountability and design integrity throughout the process. 
  • Support business development efforts through participation in interviews, proposals, and marketing initiatives. 

 

Qualifications   

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture. 
  • 8–12 years of relevant professional experience, including leadership of interior design on complex projects. 
  • Strong conceptual design skills and a refined sense of materiality and spatial experience. 
  • Experience with workplace, higher education, cultural, or civic projects preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering tools (Enscape or similar). 
  • NCIDQ certification and/or professional licensure preferred. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. 
  • Passion for sustainable design and creating places that foster belonging and impact. 
  • Substantial knowledge of building materials, product specification, installation, and construction methods as they relate to areas of specialty. 
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve problems in a timely and positive manner. 
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.

At the time of this posting, the salary range is between $95-115,000. Our final compensation decision includes a candidate's experience, qualifications and education.
