JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title : Staff Reliability Engineer 5 (W2 Only)

Duration : 6 months with possible extension

Job Type : Contract

Location : Hartford, CT | Charlotte, NC | Chicago, IL

Role Overview:

The Client’s RE&A Observability team is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help build, support, and enhance observability platforms and developer tooling. The contractor will focus on implementing advanced monitoring, alerting, and automation capabilities using tools like Splunk ITSI, Dynatrace, and AWS/GCP Cloud Monitoring.

This role supports strategic initiatives including:

  • Driving platform reliability
  • Increasing delivery speed via automation
  • Enabling application teams to self-service observability solutions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and improve self-service observability features and monitoring dashboards
  • Leverage Splunk ITSI, Dynatrace, and AI-driven observability capabilities
  • Contribute to automation, incident prevention, and system resiliency
  • Take ownership across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Collaborate across teams to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and deliver new features
  • Drive adoption of DevOps practices and cloud-native toolsets

Technical Environment & Tools:

  • Languages: Python, Terraform, Bash (5+ years)
  • Tools & Platforms:
  • Splunk ITSI (required), Dynatrace (preferred)
  • AWS (5+ years), GCP Monitoring (nice to have)
  • CLI & API usage
  • DevOps tools: GitHub, Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud Certifications (AWS, GCP)
  • CNCF, Linux, DevOps, or SRE certifications

Development Scope:

  • Light full-stack and backend/infrastructure engineering
  • Focus on building new automation and monitoring capabilities
  • Full responsibility for development, testing, deployment, and documentation
