Project Manager – Commercial Construction / Design-Build

Location: Sackets Harbor, NY | ONSITE | Full-Time

MUST HAVES

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a project manager and/or estimator in commercial or general construction
  • Strong experience with design-build methodology
  • Knowledge of PEMB (Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings)
  • Proven leadership skills overseeing crews and jobsite operations
  • Strong construction budgeting, scheduling, and cost estimating abilities
  • Proficiency in project management, scheduling, and construction software
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel domestically

Strongly Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Design-Build professional certification highly valued
  • Butler system experience

About the Role

Seeking an experienced and confident Project Manager to lead full-lifecycle construction projects from conceptual planning through design, estimating, scheduling, construction management, and final closeout. This role collaborates closely with internal departments, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and clients to deliver projects on time, within budget, and at industry-leading quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to translate conceptual needs into technical project documents
  • Build detailed estimates and schedules with input from internal trade teams (HVAC, MEP, utilities, roofing, structural components, etc.)
  • Review and interpret drawings, specs, and scopes of work
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and coordinate procurement of materials and equipment
  • Select, evaluate, and manage subcontractors and vendors
  • Direct project execution, monitor performance, and manage critical milestones
  • Conduct jobsite visits, inspections, and progress meetings
  • Lead architectural and engineering reviews and provide feedback on drawings and shop drawings
  • Oversee crew members and ensure alignment with project goals
  • Coordinate warranty follow-ups and final walk-through with owners/building managers
  • Prepare and submit Schedule of Values and all project documentation
  • Manage project budgets, resource allocation, quality control, and risk analysis
  • Address field-level challenges proactively to prevent delays

Supervisory Scope

Reports directly to senior operational leadership and oversees assigned construction sites and crew personnel.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with consistent jobsite visits
  • May require working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Field trailer work may be required depending on project phase

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to navigate construction sites and facility spaces
  • Standing on hard surfaces for extended periods
  • Climbing ladders and stairs
  • Working at heights
  • Exposure to active construction environments and equipment

Standard Hours

Typical schedule is 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Occasional off-schedule availability may be required depending on project needs and jobsite operations.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Design-Build professional certification highly valued
  • Butler system experience strongly preferred
