About the Role

An award-winning architecture firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Project Architect to join their team. This role is ideal for a licensed (or close to becoming licensed) architect with a passion for designing impactful spaces in the Education, Healthcare, or Science & Technology sectors.

As a Project Architect, you will lead the technical development of projects from design through construction, ensuring design integrity, code compliance, and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the production of design and construction documents for complex institutional projects.
  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and internal teams to ensure cohesive and integrated design solutions.
  • Oversee code analysis, quality control, and technical detailing.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, providing technical expertise and design insight.
  • Support construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and site visits.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative studio culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
  • Architecture Licensed preferred, but not required
  • 6+ years of professional experience, with a strong portfolio in education, healthcare, or science & tech projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with BIM 360 and Bluebeam is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, ADA, and technical standards.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

  • LEED accreditation or experience with sustainable design strategies.
  • Familiarity with DC permitting and regulatory processes.
  • Experience with laboratory or clinical environments is a plus.
