Job Description

To provide interpretation services upon request for community agencies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Accurately interprets and translates the complete meaning of what is said between service provider and Limited English Proficient (LEP) speaker by phone, on-site or written.
• Maintains service-consumer confidentiality.
• Accurately completes and turns in Encounter Forms as scheduled on a weekly and timely basis.
• Follows directives accordingly with all scheduled vendors and clients in the community.
• Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One (1) or two (2) years of job-related experience.
• Pass a verbal and written test of interpretation skills and English listening comprehension.
• Fluency in English language and a second language.
• Reliable, punctual, detail oriented, and objective.
• Annual TB Clearance, health clearance, and completed health requirements form.
• Able to work with community agencies and non-English speakers.
• Two (2) hours of continued education per month.
• May be subject to drug testing, per contract requirement,
• Must be willing to travel to various locations on Oahu, Hawai'i. If driving, must have current driver's license, clear traffic abstract and willingness to use properly insured vehicle.

Preferred Qualification:

• Two (2) years of interpreting experience in medical and/or legal terminology.

Must comply with company code of ethics, confidentiality practices, HIPAA, safety and all other policies and procedures.
