Hazardous Building Materials Professional – Environmental Consulting

Location: New Haven, CT (Field/office/WFH split)

Pay: $50,000–$80,000/year (based on experience) + Overtime (Straight Time)

Bonus: Eligible, based on company performance

WFH Flexibility: Yes – when not traveling; expected in-office presence as needed

About the Role:

We are seeking a Hazardous Building Materials Professional to support field inspections, abatement monitoring, and reporting related to asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, and other hazardous materials. This is a full-time position based out of New Haven, CT, offering meaningful fieldwork, flexibility, and growth potential within a dynamic environmental consulting team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform hazardous/regulated building material inspections
  • Provide project monitoring and collect clearance sampling (no onsite reading required)
  • Assist with IAQ and PCB assessments
  • Coordinate with contractors and labs
  • Prepare reports and scopes of work
  • Travel to project sites (paid mileage + hourly for travel)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
  • 1+ year experience in asbestos/lead/PCB inspections or abatement monitoring
  • CT Asbestos Inspector license (Required)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Strong communication, multitasking, and Microsoft Office skills

Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications:

  • CT Project Monitor, Lead Inspector, Lead Risk Assessor, or Asbestos Designer license
  • Licenses in MA, NY, or RI
  • Experience with proposals, estimates, and report writing
