Are you passionate about assisting others to spatially profile RNAs and proteins in tissue sections from different organisms?

As the Field Bioinformatics Scientist (Spatial) , you will be responsible for providing scientific and technical expertise to support customers in adopting Complete Genomics’ single-cell and spatial technologies . You will empower researchers to design experiments, analyze big data, and interpret results, while acting as a trusted partner to help them achieve their scientific goals.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Serve as the primary bioinformatics contact for customers using Complete Genomics’ spatial transcriptomics platforms.
  • Provide hands-on support for experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation.
  • Conduct customer training sessions, workshops, and webinars on spatial and single-cell workflows.
  • Collaborate with R&D, product, and application teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve workflows.
  • Generate and present analytical reports, publications-ready figures, and case studies.
  • Stay up to date with emerging analysis tools and contribute to pipeline development and benchmarking.
  • Support pre- and post-sales processes by demonstrating workflows and advising on project feasibility.

WHERE YOU WILL WORK

  • Location: San Jose, California (on-site preferred). Remote candidates within the U.S. will also be considered.
  • Travel: Approximately 10–15% to customer sites, conferences, and training events.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING US

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience (post degree) in spatial transcriptomics and/or single-cell analysis (e.g., 10x Visium, Stereo-seq, CosMx, MERSCOPE).
  • Knowledge of single-cell RNA-seq workflows, with the ability to integrate and interpret results in biological context (cell type annotation, tissue organization, pathway analysis).
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills: able to explain complex analyses clearly, lead trainings/workshops/scientific presentations, and collaborate with empathy and a service-oriented mindset.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with analysis frameworks such as Seurat, Scanpy, Giotto, Squidpy, BayesSpace, or StereoMap.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills (Python, R, Linux, shell scripting).
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Singularity).
  • Solid knowledge of statistics, data visualization, and machine learning methods in genomics.

WHAT YOUR EDUCATION LOOKS LIKE

  • M.S. degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field with relevant professional experience, or Ph.D. in a related field with demonstrated expertise in spatial and/or single-cell data analysis .

HOW WE WILL REWARD YOU

The base salary range for this position is $90,000-125,000 DOE.*
