Job Description

Position Overview 

The Director of Events & Membership is a key leadership role responsible for planning and executing impactful events while managing strategic membership initiatives that enhance engagement, visibility, and revenue growth. This role requires an energetic, organized, bilingual professional with a strong track record in event planning, community engagement, and relationship-building. 

Core Responsibilities 

Event Planning & Execution 

  • Develop, plan, and coordinate logistics for high-profile events including the Golf Fiesta, Membership BBQ, 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade, VIP Breakfast, Holiday Posada & Toy Drive, and other strategic initiatives. 
  • Oversee all phases of event execution: budgeting, contracts, RFPs, vendor negotiations, menu selection, A/V coordination, entertainment booking, registration, and volunteer management. 
  • Ensure all events meet or exceed revenue goals and brand expectations. 
  • Lead event marketing strategies in collaboration with the Marketing team to maximize attendance and exposure. 
  • Evaluate event performance through debriefs, attendee feedback, and reporting. 

Membership Development & Retention 

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date membership database including member engagement history, demographics, workshops attended, and communication logs. 
  • Design and implement onboarding processes and personalized membership growth plans for new and renewing members. 
  • Drive membership recruitment through events, community outreach, and targeted campaigns. 
  • Promote and sell street banners and other member-exclusive visibility opportunities. 
  • Deliver responsive technical assistance and connect members to LVCC programs and resources. 
  • Create and manage sponsorship and membership agreements, as well as marketing materials. 
  • Plan and host quarterly membership meetings and weekly newsletters. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align membership strategy with community development and outreach. 

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building 

  • Build and sustain meaningful relationships with small businesses, corporate partners, nonprofit organizations, and sponsors. 
  • Serve as a visible ambassador at community and partner events to promote LVCC's mission, programs, and membership benefits. 
  • Support grant deliverables through business advising and technical assistance. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field (or 5+ years of relevant experience). 
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish—both written and verbal—required. 
  • Demonstrated success in event planning and/or membership development. 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills. 
  • Sales and sponsorship experience is a plus. 
  • Proficient in: Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.), Event platforms (e.g., Eventbrite, Zoom), CRM/database systems, Financial reports, budgeting, and reconciliation 

Schedule & Work Environment 

  • Full-time: 40 hours per week Flexibility required for occasional evenings and weekends.
  • This is an in-office position, with one work-from home day per week.
