Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Director of Business Development role based in Fairfield, NJ. The selected candidate will lead and expand business development initiatives for Stira Pharmaceuticals’ sterile Contract Development & Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) and Analytical Services.

You will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new business opportunities, creating and executing strategic business plans, generating leads, managing key accounts, negotiating contracts, and fostering long-term client relationships. Close collaboration with internal teams to align business goals with client needs is a critical part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development strategies to grow the sterile CDMO and analytical services business.

• Identify, engage, and acquire new clients for development, tech transfer, analytical testing, and manufacturing programs.

• Lead proposal development, pricing strategy, contract negotiation, and deal closure.

• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities across peptides, long-acting injectables, ophthalmic products, small-molecule injectables, and other complex formulations.

• Represent Stira at conferences, client meetings, and industry events to promote capabilities and generate leads.

• Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (R&D, Analytical, QC, Manufacturing, Regulatory) to develop tailored client solutions.

• Understand client program requirements and translate them into actionable scopes of work.

• Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to support strategic decisions.

• Maintain CRM tracking, forecasting, reporting, and KPI management to support executive leadership.

• Support the creation and refinement of marketing materials, capability decks, and external communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

• 10+ years of experience in business development within a sterile injectable CDMO, pharma outsourcing, or analytical services environment.

• Strong knowledge of sterile manufacturing processes, analytical method development/validation, and CMC workflows.

• Proven track record in securing new business, managing client accounts, and achieving revenue targets.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, growing organization.

• Willingness to travel for client visits and industry events.
