Position overview

The Designer, Home Textiles at Coyuchi manages the design process from product trend + ideation through final line review. Working under the leadership of the Design Director, the role’s primary responsibilities are to design beautiful, innovative, and sustainable products that tell the stories of our brand + support the growth of core product categories. The Designer works closely alongside the Product Development, Merchandising, & Production teams to bring to life beautiful, unique, sustainably sourced products. This person should have deep knowledge and passion for Home textiles, appreciation of elevated and sustainable design practices and be a creative problem solver.

Primary Responsibilities

Design product from concept through final line (adoption)

  • Research seasonal and competitor trends, colors, materials exploring new materials and techniques to elevate the brand
  • Create product in accordance with seasonal themes and stories and work to ensure new product will align with these goals
  • Produce product artwork in both print and digital form for line presentations and vendor development
  • Manage initial color approvals, ensuring color represents the theme of the season and matches/coordinates throughout the line
  • Partner daily with cross-functional teams to monitor progress of all development samples and resolve issues/concerns regarding fabrics, trims, color, and specs. Includes regular meetings with vendors.
  • Generate, maintain and update tech packages and corresponding artwork
  • Create and maintain seasonal visuals (current line assortment + new)
  • Ensure all pre-production activities are completed on time, and in accordance with Coyuchi sustainability and quality standards
  • Clearly communicate pre-production challenges to internal teams and manage impact on production

Design processes and presentation

  • Document the design process, seasonal themes, and product qualities to share with the rest of the company
  • Educate the rest of the company about current and upcoming product and trends
  • Maintain the Product Dossier updated and the Coyuchi Design DNA guidelines

Go to Market Calendar

  • Attend season hindsight meetings and incorporate feedback into line development
  • Manage to the Go to Market deadlines and hand offs (timing, accuracy)
  • Present the line during Design review, Proto Review, FLR and at Season Launch
  • Support companywide goals through the development of unique product and growth of existing core product per the briefing and category strategy set forth by Leadership

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4+ years designing and developing Home Textiles, Bedding and Bath experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in textile design or related field preferred
  • Understanding of fabric qualities and constructions, techniques, and how they affect quality, suitability and costing
  • Highly curated taste level and sense of color
  • Must be proficient in Adobe CS/CC, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Google Suite, Knowledge of Asana
  • Strong communication, problem solving and time management skills
  • Experience with international communications and working with overseas vendors
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
